Great grandfather Makhan Lal Gupta, who worked in Matnagidi and had a deep passion for hospitality.
Dalchand Gupta was the founder of Delhi Sweet Stall, a popular sweet shop in Mysore, India. He opened the shop in 1928, which also provided night stay facilities for 25 paise.
Dalchand Gupta had previously worked at Indra Bhavan, another popular eatery in Mysore. However, he decided to start his own business and opened the Delhi Sweet Stall, which was a small sweet shop that also provided affordable night-stay facilities.
In those days, Mysore was a bustling city and a popular destination for tourists. The sweet stall quickly became popular among locals and visitors alike due to its delicious sweets and convenient night-stay facilities.
Dalchand Gupta’s legacy has been continued by subsequent generations of the family, who have maintained the same level of quality and authenticity in the sweets and snacks served at the shop. Delhi Sweet Stall was one of the most well-known sweet shops in Mysore, attracting visitors from all over India and beyond.
Dalchand Gupta’s son, Dharam Prakash Gupta, was in the Hotel business since the 1950s. Over the years, Dharam Prakash Gupta ventured into various hospitality businesses, including Krishna Lodge, Sri Rama Lodge, Prashanth Lodge, Modern Lodge, Sri Lodge, and Sudarshan Lodge. In 1991, the family opened Hotel Darshan Palace, which quickly became one of the most popular lodges in Mysore.
Shrimati Sushila Devi, the mother of Vikram Dharam, played an important role in continuing the family’s legacy of entrepreneurship in the hospitality industry. She was instrumental in running the Delhi Sweet Stall, a popular eatery that provided night stays, along with her husband and son. Her dedication and passion for the business inspired her family to venture into various hospitality businesses over the years. Today, the family’s success in the industry can be attributed in no small part to her tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Under the name Vikram Dharam Mysore, the Gupta family would have likely been involved in buying and selling land, as well as developing properties for commercial and residential use.
Gupta family has continued to diversify their business portfolio over the years. In 2006, they entered the automobile industry by launching EgoCars Pune.
In 2010, Vikram Dharam completed the project of Acid Rest Pub in Mysore.
In 2014, Vikram Dharam launched Abstract Quarter, a Real estate company.
In 2014, Vikram Dharam added Viks Pizzaria to their portfolio, which quickly gained a reputation for serving delicious and authentic Italian pizzas. Viks Pizzaria would have also provided a new revenue stream for the family and helped to diversify their business portfolio further.
In 2018, Vikram Dharam launched AQ Chocoiza, a premium couverture chocolate brand that has quickly become popular among food enthusiasts. A successful chocolate brand would have involved sourcing high-quality cocoa beans, developing unique flavor profiles, and creating eye-catching packaging to attract customers.
Later In 2020, Vikram Dharam launched Egoo Media, Egoo Motors, Egoo Music 2020, and EgooProduction.
Egoo Media offers services in media and advertising, which can be a lucrative industry with the rise of digital media and social media platforms. This venture involved identifying target audiences, creating effective advertising campaigns, and leveraging the power of social media to increase brand awareness.
Egoo Motors offers automobile electric servicing, which can be a profitable industry with the rising demand for automobiles in India. This venture involved sourcing high-quality cars, offering competitive pricing and financing options, and providing excellent customer service and after-sales support.
Egoo Music247 2020 offers music production services, which can be a competitive and creative industry. This venture involved identifying talented musicians, developing unique soundscapes and musical compositions, and marketing and distributing music to a wide audience.
Egoo Production offers film production services, which can be a dynamic and exciting industry. This venture involved identifying talented writers, directors, and actors, developing compelling storylines and scripts, and producing high-quality films that resonate with audiences.
Gupta family has recently launched Sonder Rus Homestay in 2023, utilizing their extensive experience and expertise in the hospitality industry. Sonder Rus likely offers guests a comfortable and welcoming place to stay that provides a more intimate and personalized experience than traditional hotels.
